Indigenous Lawyers' Forum

In 2021, seven Indigenous matriarchs, each with a foothold in distinct legal areas and representing diverse Indigenous nations, joined forces to establish the Indigenous Lawyers’ Forum. This committee was spurred by their shared vision to Indigenize and decolonize the extant legal structures and practices that have dominated the legal system since Canada’s inception.

Additionally, the Indigenous Lawyers’ Forum recognizes the imperative to nurture the next generation of legal professionals, and are committed in providing mentorship, support, and knowledge with Indigenous colleagues, newly minted law graduates, and law students, empowering them to contribute towards the resurgence of Indigenous law.
